Why Obama is Suffering in the Polls, and Why I Want Him To Succeed

A people's politician is successful when he caters to the needs and concerns of the people. That means he allows the people to decide what he tries to put through the legislature elected by said people. Currently, however, President Obama has taken on the task of fast tracking a slapdash-and at best misguided-bill in the hopes of reforming health care. A bill that is much derided by the people it is intended to help.

When the people who form your base of support are upset, you should stop what you're doing and revise, revise, revise. You don't keep pushing it through so you can add another check mark to you're list of accomplishments.

The fact of the matter is, this is a problem that is going to end up being more than a healthcare issue. If the president can't start taking more cues from voters themselves, and continue to let an increasingly divided democratic caucus steer his agenda, there will be a problem come 2012.

I want Mr Obama to figure out a a great health care plan. I believe a public system can work in the United States. I don't want to worry about paying $800 dollars a month for prescriptions if I am not covered at the time.
